Hello and welcome to Mindful Mrs. I am so happy to have you here.
My name is Brittany. I am a Certified Mindfulness Teacher, wife, twin mom, and your go-to girl for turning the mental mess into mindful moments.
I started Mindful Mrs to inspire women to live happier, more balanced lives. Life can be chaotic and messy. If you are anything like me, you likely struggle with anxiety, overthinking, and people-pleasing. When you add kids to the mix, some days, it feels like you can kiss your sanity goodbye. With mindfulness, you can connect your mind and body to show up as your best self rather than losing your s#*t and feeling guilty about it later.
I aim to provide helpful tips, practical techniques, and simple resources to help you master your mind, body, and soul. Along the way, I will share my experiences with mindfulness as I navigate being a new mom to my two babes!
My Mindfulness Journey
My journey with mindfulness started in 2017, about a year after I lost my mom. One day, I was in a yoga class practicing heart openers when I started to cry, like, REALLY cry. When I got home, I decided to sit and breathe through those feelings and try to understand what had just happened to me. I was amazed by the clarity I felt. I had been suppressing all these painful emotions deep down instead of acknowledging and working through them.
Since that day, I have been deepening my practice. I fell in love with the mind/body connection. Learning about the transformative nature of tuning into oneself became an obsession. Being mindful of my emotions helped me learn a lot about myself. I started to recognize the triggers and harmful habits that I had been forming, and it helped me see more clearly the steps I needed to take to correct them. For the first time, I acknowledged what I needed and questioned things that didn’t feel right. I completely re-evaluated my relationship with the word “should” and consciously decided to be more intentional with my whys. There is no right or wrong way to be or to feel. We only get one life, and the most important thing is that we own who we are and we step into our power without judgment from ourselves!
Now, more than five years later, married to my college sweetheart, a mom to two beautiful girls and a golden retriever, I decided to take this passion of mine to the next level and start a blog so I can help others transform their lives through mindfulness.
Your Mindfulness Journey Begins Here!
Thank you for welcoming me into this transformational journey of yours. It is an honor to have you here. I know it can feel overwhelming, sometimes even impossible, to calm your mind. Trust me, some days, the struggle is REAL for me too! So, to help you get started, please join me in this simple meditation.
First, I want you to close your eyes right where you are. Start by visualizing your intention for this practice. Your intention will guide your attention throughout your practice and into your day. Maybe it is something like, “Today I want to be calm,” or “I will give myself grace.”
Next, Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly. I want you to take a few deep breaths here, focusing your attention solely on the breath. As you inhale, feel the cool air around your nostrils and the rise in your chest and belly. As you exhale, feel your worries melt away. Do this for a few rounds.
Return your breath to a natural rhythm and seal this practice by repeating your intention with each inhale and saying, “Nothing is standing in my way” with each exhale.
How do we feel? Ready to dive into mindfulness with me? I can’t wait.!
